What would you highlight about Nirvana Hotel - Cancun Hotel Zone
You get what you pay for but the staff make it passable.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
No fresh air coming in (only one window which was sealed shut) and damp smell upon arrival so had to use AC which made the room too cold. No smoke detector or carbon monoxide alarm. No hairdryer. Sink blocked and filled up upon first use (staff got it sorted quickly though). No phone system to call reception.

Comfortable room but poorly located
We checked in pretty late due to our flight but they were friendly and accommodating. Even filled our water bottles for us as they could tell we had had a long journey. The room was comfortable and had good air conditioning.
The location is in the hotel zone but it's actually miles from anything. 45 minute walk to get to the hubbub of Cancun, although you could get a taxi if you want. Also at check-out they made us wait while they "checked the room". However, no one appeared to be doing anything and so after 10 minutes we said we needed to leave (we did, we had a ferry to catch) and they let us go. Seemed pointless and unnecessary to waste our time if they weren't going to actually check.

Solid option if you are on a low budget and don't care too much that it's not super clean
The service overall was pretty good, they were pretty nice after we checked in and they had security walk around the place which made me feel safer. The beds didn't feel too dirty.
The facilities are very old, there is cockroaches and possums with garbage in the mouths walking around. The front desk lady made us wait like 20-30 minutes before we could check in at 8pm. The hotel is just very old, it must have been pretty great 10 years ago

Good
It was very clean, the cleaning ladies were very nice
We could not change the temperature of the room, we had to go to reception which was outside the building and wait for the security guy to come with the remote control... One day I had to wait for 3 hours The restaurant is very expensive The bed was not so comfortable
